Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake

Have I mentioned how much I love milkshakes?

This milkshake may not look like much, but trust me when I tell you it is heavenly. I love ice cream, always have and I am sure I always will. Growing up I loved making milkshakes with my mom. She had one of those old fashioned mint green milkshake makers from her mom. I am pretty sure the metal cup and old fashioned shake maker made them taste better. I wonder if she still has that thing. I would ask her for it, but Zack already thinks I have too many kitchen gadgets....

Now let's talk about this shake. You know I love S'mores based on all my previous posts, so obviously I am going to love a toasted marshmallow shake. I once attempted to add some chopped milk chocolate this shake to make it more s'mores like and it was a nice addition, but I think I preferred it without. I may try to mic in some graham cracker crumbs next time, but really it is perfect as is and needs nothing.

Toasted Marshmallow Shake
recipe adapted from Spike Mendelshon

makes 2 servings

1/2 of a 1lb bag of jumbo marshmallows
1 cup whole milk
1 cup good vanilla ice cream (I like Breyers)
Homemade whipped cream

Preheat broiler. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray. Spread the marshmallows on the baking sheet and place in the oven until nice and brown. Let cool.

In a blender, mix the milk, ice cream, and all but two marshmallows. Blend until smooth. Pour into two glasses and top with whipped cream and reserved marshmallows. Serve immediately.

Two? All those marshmallows just for two people? Wow! That seems sweet. However, I look forward to making these. :)

this was really sweet and i couldn't finish a glass. it also is very liquidy after you blend it, so i recommend putting it into the freezer for a while to thicken it up.

You could incorporate the graham cracker element by rimming the glass with graham cracker crumbs. It would be beautiful!
