I love chocolate.
For those of you who are new to my blog or just haven't realized...I am getting married in less than a month! Zack and I are super excited! The exact date is May 22nd, and I can't wait. Two weeks ago my lovely friends, Sarah, Leslie, and Catherine hosted a bridal shower for me. It beautiful and tons of fun; not to mention the food and drinks were incredible! I have amazing friends and consider myself very lucky. At the shower one of my friends gave me this incredible brownie pan. It is in the shape of a giant chocolate bar! Of course I could not wait to break it out. For my first recipe in the pan I used the recipe right on the package. I found the recipe to be a bit dry, but it may have been due to the baking time. Next time I am going to include chocolate chips in the recipe and decrease the baking time. I have included the recipe with my modifications below:
Chocolate Bar Brownies
recipe adapted from Williams-Sonoma
5 oz. bittersweet chocolate, broken into pieces
10 Tbs. (1 1/4 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into cubes
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease brownie pan.
Put the chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl and microwave in thirty second intervals, stirring between each interval until melted. Let the chocolate mixture cool slightly.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt until combined. Set aside.
In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla until well combined. Add the chocolate mixture and whisk until incorporated. Whisk in the flour mixture until combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Gently tap the pan on the counter to release any air bubbles. Bake until the top is shiny and a tooth pick inserted into the center of the brownies comes out with a few crumbs attached, 30 - 35 minutes.
Transfer the pan to a wire rack and let cool for 15 minutes.
