Yum!
Hello Cupcake is one of the latest cupcake shops to hit the DC scene. I decided to taste test the peanut butter blossom cupcake, a chocolate cupcake topped with peanut butter frosting, and it did not disappoint. After all peanut butter and chocolate are the ultimate pairing. This cupcake was everything I wanted my cupcake to be. The chocolate was rich but not overwhelming, the cake was light and moist, and the frosting....oh the frosting. The peanut butter frosting was sweet, nutty, smooth, and creamy. Let's just say I would go to town on that frosting if left alone with a bowl. With other flavors such as 24 carrot, triple coconut, heart of darkness, and velvet elvis they have something for everybody and at $3 a cupcake I will be visiting them again.

So glad you wrote about this. I was JUST thinking about it this morning since I have company in town, so good to know that it's delicious. How does it compare to Georgetown Cupcake? I love that place!
I have not been to Georgetown Cupcake yet, but they are definitely better than Baked and Wired.
That is a good looking cupcake.
Happy Easter Risa!

While I enjoy Hello Cupcake (bailey's irish cream--amazing!), Baked Wired has some of the best cupcakes in the district (perfect frosting, moist cupcakes, and interesting packaging-they come in wax paper instead of a cup).
Georgetown cupcake's frosting is too rich and cupcakes are too dry.
red velvet in chinatown is also worth trying... their peanut butter selection was delicious
that being said, risa's chocolate chocolate cupcake is my favorite!
Yum, that looks like a great cupcake!
Oh, Risa, we are so so so similar. That's the exact cupcake I would've picked..of course. Great first review!
Love the new look! The cupcakes look yummy! Happy Easter!
That looks like one yummy cupcake!
I think they featured this in the Washngton Post once! there was once when the Washington Post did this whole series on comparing cupcakes in the metro area.
Hello, my name is Cate and I am a confirmed cupcake addict. It's a good thing they didn't open up here! I have a hard enough time staying away for our cupcake joints!
heart of darkness cupcake sounds both delicious AND evil! i love it. that PB Blossom one looks gorgeously yummy
Minnesota has yet to open a cupcake shop - am amazed with the carze. This looks delicious. Instead of a dessert buffet... a cupcake one. And yes - chocolate and peanut butter - a match made in heaven.
So beautiful, it's really tempting to look at that cupcakes.
Cheers,

I'm supposed to go to DC this summer and will definitely check this spot out. Thanks for postin.
Hey Risa, I just came across your blog via StumbleUpon. Lots of delicious eye candy, I love it!
Looks good wow what a great business $3 a cup cake. I make great cupcakes but would never pay $3 for one. Maybe I have lived in Mexico too long. Look forward to reading your other stories.
Beautiful blog! Great pix and recipes!!
We hit the Hello Cupcake while in D.C. this weekend and YUM. I got the Princess, which was something involving strawberries, and I loved how moist they got the cake to be. The frosting was a little WOAH sweet but I think it was just that flavor. Love cupcakes.
